ADAM FISHER FOUND DEAD FRIDAY NIGHT
FATHER OF CITY MARSHALL FISHER SUDDENLY STRICKEN AT HIS SONS HOME - FUNERAL SUNDAY AFTERNOON AT 2:30
Adam Fisher, father of City Marshall, Charles Fisher, was found dead in the dining room of his son's home on East Jackson street at twenty minutes to eight o'clock Friday evening by his daughter-in-law, Mrs. Charles Fisher. Mrs Fisher had returned to her home to get an umbrella preparatory to going to lodge as it was sprinkling slightly at that time. She entered the home and started to the kitchen to get the umbrella. She saw Mr. Fisher in the dining room in a sitting posture with his feet doubled under him, and with a washrag in his hand. Mrs Fisher called to him twice but recieved no response. She then called Dr. Ben P. Linville and notified her husband. Dr. Linville had been treating Mr. Fisher for high blood pressure for some timeand said that death was due to that combined with heart trouble or aproplexy. Dr. Ben said it was evident from the position in which Mr. Fisher was found that he had died before he fell to the floor. Coroner Alice Williams was notified and empowered Dr. Linville to act in the case.
Mrs. Fisher stated that when she left the home at 20 minutes to 7, the deceased was sitting in a rocking chair on the front porch, apperently in as good health as he had been. He was downtown talking to his friends both during the morning and afternoon and told Warren Martin that he had been feeling especially well the past few days and he had eaten heartily at the supper hour.
Mr. Fisher was born in Perry county, Ohio May 28, 1845 to Jacob and Margaret Emerick Fisher, and was 78 years, 3 months and 10 days old. The young man grew to manhood on the farm and when the Civil War broke out answered the call by enlisting in Co. D 35th Regiment Indiana Volunteer Infantry. He served his country with honor in that great struggle taking part in many of the engagements of the war. After returning to Whitley County he followed the occupation of farming. He served for 6 years as Trustee of Thorncreek twp. and as township accessor for nine years filling both positions offiently and well.
He was twice married the first married Mary E. Stem January 9, 1868. She passed away January 5, 1877. The following children survive the first union: Mrs. William Hively, Thorncreek twp., Mrs. Perry Lawrence, Walkerton, Lewis Fisher, Thorncreek twp., and Theodore Fisher, Fort Wayne.

The following children survive the second union; Charles Fisher, Columbia City; Mrs. Austin Hively, Thorncreek twp.; and Asher Fisher, Columbia City; in addition the children there are 18 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. Mr. Fisher was the last of eight children.
The deceased was a member of the I.O.O.P. lodge and Nicholson Encampment of this city, the George W. Sough Post of this city, and was baptized in the Lutheran church on September 24, 1844. He moved to Columbia City from Thorncreek township eleven years ago this fall and made hi home with his son since the death of Mrs. fisher. He was an Exemplary citizen, a good friend and neighbor and was held in high esteem by all who knew him.
Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 2:30 at the home of Charles Fisher, Rev. F.E. Fribley officiating. Burial will be in the South Park cemetery where the I.O.O.F. order will have charge.
